Welcome to St. John's-on-the-Lake
A summer chapel on the lake providing ecumenical services to support the religious needs of the scattered island population.

Founded in 1927, the mission of St. John's-on-the-Lake is to provide ecumenical services on Sundays to meet the religious needs of the growing island population of Lake Winnipesaukee. Regardless of what your religious affiliation at home may be, we hope that you will join each Sunday with us at this community center of worship.

The chapel is located on the largest elevation of Bear Island on Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith, New Hampshire. It can be reached by a short walk from the church docks located in Deep Cove on the west side of the island, as well as by other marked paths. Services are held at 10:00 am Sunday mornings during the summer season.

Well behaved dogs are always welcome at St. John's. Sneakers or sturdy shoes for you are highly suggested due to the walk to the chapel. Shorts are also recommended for warmer days.
